Cycling in Sutton and Merton

When and where?

Our cycling sessions are based at David Weir Leisure Centre (Sutton Arena), Middleton Road, Carshalton, Surrey SM5 1SL. We have two types of session run most Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays:

10 - 11am: informal inclusive cycling sessions for those aged 14+ who would like an opportunity to learn to ride, regain cycling confidence, improve cycling skills, socialise and get gentle exercise in safe off-road environment

11am – 12noon: everybody is welcome, but from 11am we cater for groups of adults with a disability. We have cycles suitable for all disabilities click here for details.

Cycling dates

Our adult cycling sessions run weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 10am-12noon (groups welcome from 11am) on the athletics track at the David Weir Leisure Centre.

Sessions run in the sun and rain! If there is snow or heavy frost on the track we may have to cancel – please phone to check.

However, sessions will not run on Bank Holiday Mondays during the year.

Each participant pays £4 per session (carers are free)

Where? David Weir Leisure Centre (previously Sutton Arena) – see map

David Weir Leisure Centre (previously Sutton Arena), Middleton Road, Carshalton, Surrey SM5 1SL. Opposite St Helier Hospital, go down Tweeddale Road and the Arena entrance is to your left. Sessions on every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 10am till 11 for Get Cycling and 11 till midday for Gear-Up. Cost is £4 per session. Just turn up and say hello!

If you are travelling via public transport, the buses S1, 80, 151 and 157 all stop within close distance of the Arena. For the S1 and 80, get off the bus in Middleton Road opposite the Arena. For 151 or 157, get off the bus opposite or outside St Helier Hospital.

There is parking in the Arena car park, accessed off Middleton Road.
